Meet the Owner | Brendan Pfahl
BRPPM Hardscape and Excavation is owned and operated by Brendan Pfahl. Originally from Texas, Brendan grew up in Duluth, Minnesota, and graduated from Marshall School and later attended the University of St. Thomas where he studied Business Administration and Project Management.
Brendan started working in landscaping at 14 years old, when he and his older brother, Anthony, started a lawn mowing business together. Anthony drove the truck and helped with trimming, while Brendan ran the mowers. That small summer business became BRP Property Maintenance.
By age 16, Brendan was mowing more than 20 residential and commercial lawns each week. On the days he was not mowing, he worked with a Duluth hardscaping company, where he began learning the craft of patios, retaining walls, stone steps, and outdoor construction.
After that company closed when the owner retired, Brendan sold his mowing route and started BRPPM Hardscape and Excavation. His first hardscape project was a 600-square-foot paver patio with a seating wall. Soon after, BRPPM completed a larger project featuring a 1,500-square-foot paver patio, custom sawn limestone retaining walls, matching limestone steps, and a full landscape package.
Through hands-on experience, travel, and a passion for stone, Brendan developed a strong eye for hardscape design. He has been inspired by the stonework of ancient Greek, Roman, and Aztec civilizations, and the way their walls, roads, steps, and structures were built with purpose, beauty, and permanence.
Today, BRPPM is a full-service hardscape and excavation company with the equipment, tools, and crews to complete both large and small outdoor projects. Brendan continues to oversee each job personally, designing spaces that fit the property, meet the client’s needs, and are built to last.
